FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is an ISA Certified Arborist?

ISA, short for the International Society of Arboriculture, is an association in which Arboriculture professionals can pursue a formal education to expand their knowledge, and skills. In turn, these individuals can achieve a certification that gives them a competitive advantage over those who are unqualified in the field.

Certified Arborists are individuals who demonstrate the knowledge and skills to properly care for trees. Like David the Tree Guy, we are able to demonstrate our commitment to the profession by continuing the ISA Continued Education Units (CEUs) every three years to maintain the certification.

How much will it cost to remove or prune my tree?
Each tree is unique. We evaluate the cost based on a number of factors:
  • Size of the tree
  • Location of the tree
  • Obstacles around and/or below the tree (fences, garage, other trees, decks, etc)
  • Time spent completing work of the tree
Contact us and send a good picture of the tree(s) in question and we'll give you a no obligation quote!
Do you clean up the branches?
Yes. We always clean up after the job. If you would like the firewood just ask us and we'll leave it on your property.
When is the best time to prune?
Anytime except when the tree is flowering.
  • Fruit trees: Late fall, winter, or early spring.
  • Elm trees: Between September 30 to March 31.
  • Lilacs: Right after flowering between mid to late June.
When is the worst time to prune?
  • Fruit trees: During flowering
  • Maple and birch: Spring
